KS2 progress letter – Rt Hon Nick Gibb MP
So here I go again! In my 20 year career so far before November I had only ever been part of a school that had received a ministerial letter once! Now here we are with two in one year, must be like buses! I won’t go over the same stuff I said last time, my morals and beliefs haven’t changed in the last two months, even if it was on paper the last decade. The recent letter congratulates us on our Key Stage Two progress scores. To be honest progress scores mean an awful lot more to me than percentages; ‘scores on the doors.’ The progress measure nationally looks at each individual child and says their journey from KS1 to KS2 should give them a progress score of 0. Our collective progress scores were 5.2, 3.9 and 4.3 in reading, writing and maths respectively. These scores put us in the top 3% of the country nationally. We are obviously over the moon at the external recognition for all the hard work and to reiterate what I said last time, team work makes the dream work. So thankyou once more, this time from the top of my heart, for working with us, trusting us and believing in our very different approach to educating your child. To me this just verifies education can be fun and effective at the same time. These children have spread their wings now and, I hope have continued with their amazing attitudes to work at secondary school. We say that we want to grow mighty oaks from our tiny acorns – we are certainly giving them the roots to grow and flourish into whatever they want to be.
