European Day of Languages
For European Day of Languages this year each class chose a different language to study. After learning some facts about the country where their chosen language is spoken, the children then took part in activities linked to that language, learning some words and phrases.
In Year 3 we decided to try some Dutch. We found out where the Netherlands is and what the landscape is like there. We watched a short clip about some of the most famous places in the Netherlands as well as hearing about Dutch schools and food.
Then we had a go at speaking Dutch. We learned how to count to 10, to say hello and goodbye and how to ask someone their name and reply.
To finish off our afternoon we all had a taste of some Dutch treats – savory and sweet – and discovered some new foods that we like!
