Last week, twelve Year 2 children went across to Preston Park to plant 5000 purple crocus bulbs! They planted them on the bank leading down to the river with the help of two gardeners from Stockton Council.
The Rotary Club donated the bulbs as part of a fundraising project to stamp out polio, a crippling disease that kills and paralyses young children. across the globe. The purple crocus symbolises the purple dye that is painted on the little fingers of children to show they have been immunised.
The Year 2 children are looking forward to returning to the park in the spring to see the crocuses in full bloom.
