Christmas Fair 2014

The Christmas Fair on Friday evening was a roaring success and a wonderful evening was had by all.  A huge special thanks to all of the PTA members whose organisational skills meant that the evening was ran with the smoothness of a military operation.

Anglo-Saxon visitor to our school

In November, we had a couple of special visitors to our school. Fresh from the Stone Age, we had Una who came to talk to our Year 4 class and share tools and clothing and facts about her life. In Year 5, we had a visit from Emma, an Anglo-Saxon. She dressed children up in clothing from Saxon times and showed the class weapons, tools, artefacts and even had children…

Year 6 Play in a Day

On Monday 3rd November the Y6 class took part in a ‘Play in a Day’. This was lead by by a professional theatre company and involved a very intense day of word learning and practical rehearsal for all concerned. The result was fantastic as, towards the end of the day, the Y6 class performed to the rest of the school a play called ‘We are not amused’ – linked to…

Children in Need 2014

Onesies were worn all day by children and staff alike – and there were some very ‘alternative’ examples on view! The School Council worked really hard to plan and organise the day’s events. At break time, they sold biscuits, buns, cakes and drinks whilst a superbly hand drawn cardboard cut out of Pudsey was covered with coins (twice over!). After school, as part of a ‘starter for ten’ project, a…

Year 6 trip to Preston Park Museum

On Wednesday October 8th,  our Year 6 class visited the newly re-furbished Preston Park Museum. The visit was organised to link with the children’s on-going study of the Victorian period.

Year 1 meet Prince Michael, the Duke of Kent

On Wednesday the 8th October, Year 1 were invited to Preston Hall Museum as Prince Michael, the Duke of Kent, was invited to open the restored kitchen garden at the grounds. This was a really exciting opportunity for the pupils to get a glimpse of royalty. It was an absolute privilege for pupils to welcome his Royal Highness to Preston Hall Museum. The children looked the part as they were…

Year 2 morning at Preston Park

In October the Year 2 children spent an enjoyable morning at Preston Park. They fed the ducks, identified different trees, kicked the autumn leaves and had a little play in the park. When the children came back to school, they wrote all about their experiences and did some beautiful leaf rubbings.

Preston to Paris for Macmillan

To help our fundraising efforts for the Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, the children, staff and parents of Preston Primary are cycling a huge 840km on a number of exercise bikes, the distance between our school and Paris. The virtual journey started on Monday and we hope to arrive by Friday. The bikes are available through out the school day if you would like to come in and help us…

Cross-Country 2014

The conditions when we arrived to take part in the Cross-country event were absolutely perishing! Nevertheless, the children warmed up for their run in great spirit and very little moaning was to be heard (apart from Mrs Riggall who was freezing)! Conditions were tough as the ground was extremely wet, muddy and very slippy but great efforts were made by all of our entrants to ensure they finished the challenging…

Stig of the Dump

On Monday 3rd February Image Musical Theatre came to work with Key Stage 1 and 2 to produce Stig of the Dump – The Musical. “As said by the author Clive King himself, Image Musical Theatre delivers one of the best adaptations of this wonderful modern children’s classic. Clive King’s story of Barney and his Neolithic friend Stig has been a firm favourite with children and adults since its first…
