The 10th of November saw 11 Y5 pupils travel to Hurworth for an action packed day highlighting how diversity enriches the world. Our children were excellent ambassadors for the school, eloquently voicing their belief in the importance of diversity and impressing the organisers with their insight into the topic. They thoroughly enjoyed decorating their gingerbread people, which was a visual reminder that though we may look very different on the outside, we are all the same underneath.
After having a tour of the indoor training facilities, the children were then able to watch the first team during their training session, even taking delight in kicking a few wayward balls back too! The highlight for many was the opportunity to have MFC pennants signed by the whole team, the trainers and the coach. Despite having trained hard, they still took time out to chat to our children at length.
In the afternoon, the children were delighted, and even a little star struck, when Britt Assombalonga and Marcus Tavernier took time out from their busy schedule to join them and help them to write poetry for the Premier League Poetry writing competition. Inspiration flowed and soon all the children had completed very impressive poems.
It is certainly a day that we will remember!
