Admissions to our School

Parents who are considering sending their children to Preston Primary School are advised to contact the Head Teacher well in advance. They are warmly invited to visit the school to meet the staff and pupils. Appointments may be made with the Head Teacher, either before moving to the area, or on arrival.

Children may be admitted to the Nursery Class as soon as they have reached the age of three if a place is available. As our Nursery is very popular, to ensure you have a place, we advise that you put your child's name on the waiting list as soon as possible. Visits to the class will be arranged prior to your child starting nursery to ensure that the transition from home to school is as smooth as possible.

Children who live in the admission zone of the school are guaranteed a place but those who live outside the zone must be placed on a waiting list until the numbers coming from within it are known. Priority is given to children from out of area who will be continuing their primary education at Preston Primary School beyond the Nursery Unit.

Admission into Full Time Education is controlled by the Admissions Policy of the Local Education Authority (LA). The policy is:

Children whose fifth birthday falls between 1st September and 31st August of that academic year will begin fulltime education during the month of September.
